What's Your Focus? - Vision Casting for the New Year!

Hello! It’s Krista! I’ve also been an insider on the blog posts at Focus On Health, but this week I’ve been asked to write! I’m excited to share a little about how Dr. Curt and I start the New Year.  Here at FOH we like to ask….What’s your Focus? It’s been our #hastag for years and it fits with the New Year! To help Dr. Curt and I decide on what our focus should be for the year we go on a Vision Casting retreat. It’s a weekend away from the daily grind to set our intentions for the coming year. We use the time for self-care, reflection on the past year, dreaming BIG for the future, and planning for our family. We get a lot of questions about how we Vision Cast and so I recently wrote an eBook describing our process. I wanted to share with you an excerpt from the book that I hope will help you set your intention for the upcoming year.

“When the end of the year is approaching, it’s time to schedule your Vision Casting Retreat to plan for the following year. It’s called a Retreat because you have to physically retreat or withdraw from the normal day-to-day distractions. We believe it takes a total mind shift to allow yourself to properly vision cast, and that means the proper space is necessary for a successful vision casting experience. The space and act of withdrawing from the daily grind will give your brain permission to be creative and dream.

When we vision cast, we are looking ahead to the next year, up to five years. So, it’s essential to expand your mind by not only creating a quiet space, but also creating a positive mindset. You have to tell that voice inside your head that it’s okay to dream! Remove the constraints of doubt and insecurity, and give yourself permission to lay it all out - nothing is weird, silly, or too big during vision casting.

When you take the time to plan at the end of each year, it gives you the necessary room to evaluate your current systems and processes. It affords you the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for implementing new systems and processes for the next year. “

My hope is that you take the time to find your focus for the year and come in and share with us at Focus On Health or tag us and share with the hashtag #whatsyourfocus. If you come in for a visit you can share in our “What’s your Focus?” campaign happening throughout the month of January. Just grab a sheet of paper from the front desk and write your “Focus” down! First step to attaining a goal is writing it down. We hope we can be your first step to hitting your goals.
